Greensboro, North Carolina — According to state and local economic development sources Publix Super Markets plans to build out 940,000 square feet of new space in Greensboro. The company is creating 1,000 new jobs, and plans to occupy the new space in Greensboro, on or about December 1, 2022. According to the company website Our Mission at Publix is to be the premier quality food retailer in the world. Publix was founded in 1930 in Winter Haven, Florida, by George W. Jenkins. Our retail sales in 2018 reached $36.1 billion, and currently, we employ over 200,000 people. At Publix we are one of the 10 largest-volume supermarket chains in the country.
