CoreWeave has announced the acquisition of Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ). According to the company announcement CoreWeave is an AI Hyperscaler that specializes in building a leading AI cloud platform designed for high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The company’s platform and technology stack are purpose-built to power AI innovation, with data center infrastructure as a foundational layer. CoreWeave has been operating a growing footprint of data centers across the US and Europe since 2017. Through its acquisition of Core Scientific, CoreWeave aims to accelerate its strategy to deploy AI and HPC workloads at scale, gaining ownership of approximately 1.3 GW of gross power across Core Scientific’s national data center footprint. This acquisition is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve financing flexibility, and provide greater control over critical power capacity, solidifying CoreWeave’s growth trajectory and its ability to meet the increasing demand for specialized, massive-scale compute infrastructure for AI.
