Legacy Paper Group plans new expansion project in Michigan

Port Huron, Michigan — According to state and local development sources, Legacy Paper Group plans to invest $24,500,000.00 to build out 400,000 square feet of new space in Port Huron. The company plans to occupy the new space in Port Huron, on or about January 1, 2027. According to the company website, Legacy Paper is a specialty paper manufacturer focused on sustainable, lightweight paper solutions for packaging and industrial use. A subsidiary of BMI Group, Legacy Paper is bringing 30,000 tons of annual production capacity back online with the restart of Paper Machine #8 (PM8) at their historic Port Huron Mill. In continuous operation since 1888, the Port Huron facility has long served the food service, medical, and consumer goods sectors with high-quality paper products. PM8 produces ultra-lightweight, specialty grades for applications such as quick-serve restaurant packaging, candy wrappers, tissue overwraps, and medical table covers. Our work is grounded in a commitment to sustainability and innovation, meeting todays demand for eco-conscious packaging materials for critical applications.
